Shazia Mari Affirms PPP’s Commitment to Free Speech

Speaking at the Sanghar Press Club on May 5, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Central Information Secretary Shazia Mari reaffirmed her party’s commitment to the fundamental principles of freedom of expression. Mari, highlighting the PPP’s historical role in safeguarding democracy, reiterated the party’s enduring dedication to the welfare of the people, a cornerstone of its democratic principles.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of the National Press Club in upholding journalistic integrity, Mari commended its dedication to authentic and constructive journalism. Expressing concerns over the proliferation of fake news and media manipulation, she praised journalists committed to truth and ethical reporting.

Furthermore, Mari announced plans to inaugurate a new state-of-the-art building for the National Press Club, equipped with modern facilities. Additionally, she revealed plans for a seminar in the club’s auditorium focusing on the “survival and benefits of democracy.”

Mari highlighted her party’s legacy of sacrifices made for the cause of democracy.
